Now guests are about to embark on a tour of the Hemingway House. This is a home Ernest Hemingway lived in during the years he spent in Key West. You can really feel the history here, and imagine how nice it must have been back then.

We like to learn and get educated. There are tour guides who give tours of the home throughout the day. You can follow the entire tour, or you can just listen to the topics you are interested in. Either way, it is all very interesting, so be sure to visit during your trip to Key West.

Here is a fact for you, this is the first in-ground pool built in Key West, and it is still one of the largest swimming pools on the island. Hemingway was not too happy with the final price of the pool, which was $20,000.

The Hemingway House in Key West, Florida is a fantastic place to visit. You will see history and artifacts of a literary legend, and really experience how he and his family lived back in the day. This truly is a lovely house to visit.

The living room is spacious and grand, with huge windows that really let the sea breeze in. There are some beautiful furniture pieces in the room as well.

Look here, as there are quite a few six-toed cats at the home, and they are friendly. These cats are descendants of a six-toed cat Hemingway had when he lived here.

Moving on, the upstairs bedroom also has huge windows, and the lush tropical foliage around the house really helps to keep the house cool. This is a lovely home to visit, full of history and charm.

The kitchen is nicely decorated in a style that worked well for laid-back Key West living. They really lived good back in the day. This must have been a wonderful house to live in.

There are many photos and artifacts in the house that really show what it was like when Hemingway lived in the house. He bought the house in 1931 and spent many years enjoying life in Key West. Some of his most famous writing was done during his Key West years.

Planning for Key West Vacations
You learn so much, this tour makes sense for your second day on the island. Do the Trolley Tour and rent a scooter on the first day to get a good feel for the big picture. As you move on to later days, start drilling down to all of the neat local things and educational tours.
