Having been to all of the public beach areas in Key West, this is a good one for families and it is free. The snorkeling is better at the Snorkel Beach Park on Fort Taylor. You have to pay to enter this park, but it is worth. Higgs is free and one of the very popular beach zones for the residents of Key West.

Our Pick for Locals Beach
Do know that it is free so a local is more apt to come here for some sun or outdoor activities. Volleyball is popular here as well. Nice beach bar for drinks too.
